The Cinema Society Club

How does it work?

Whilst going to the cinema is one of the UK’s favourite leisure activities, it can quickly become very expensive! Put simply, we’re here to help you save money, by offering discounted cinema vouchers at hundreds of cinemas across the UK. You simple purchase vouchers from us at a discounted price, each of which can then be exchanged for one cinema ticket at your chosen cinema; the easiest way to think about it is that you “pay” The Cinema Society to receive a “free entry” for the cinema.

Your vouchers are delivered to you instantly via email and can be exchanged for tickets at your chosen cinema, either at the box office or online via their website (depending on the cinema).

Click here to check out our short, animated video to discover how simple the process really is!

How do I register with The Cinema Society?

In order to register, you’ll just need to return to your employee or member benefit platform and click on ‘The Cinema Society’ or “cinema” tab, which will bring you to our registration page.

I’m registered but can’t log in.

After you added your email address in your registration form, we sent you a confirmation which you need to click on to verify your email address and activate your account.

If you have done this and still cannot login, please try resetting your password or get in touch with us and we will get you up and running straight away.

Do I need to choose the film before buying vouchers?

Not at all - you buy the vouchers first, and then you can redeem these with your chosen cinema and select your movie. Plus they are valid for months, so you have plenty of time if you can’t decide what to watch!

My local cinema isn’t included?

We’d love to get every cinema onboard, and we continue to attempt to develop trading relationships with cinemas across the UK. If we don’t have your preferred cinema yet, please get in touch with us and we’ll see what we can do!

Can I buy for my friends and family who aren’t members?

Absolutely, you can purchase as many vouchers as you like (up to 10 per day). All you need to do is place your order as normal and then share the evouchers with family or friends.

Do you sell Gift packages of cinema vouchers?

Yes, you can purchase Gifts by going to the Gift Packages section of our website where you can find all our Gifts available for you to purchase to give the gift of cinema to a loved one.

How can I keep up to date on the latest film releases?

Go to ‘My Account’ and you’ll be given the option to opt-in to marketing. We’ll keep you updated on the latest film releases, alongside new products and special offers.

What about Irish cinemas? I can’t see any options?

We have a separate website especially for our Irish customers, where you’ll be able to see all the local cinemas and purchase vouchers in Euros. Click here to access the site or get in touch to find out more.

How do I cancel my account?

To find out more about the data we store and how to use it, please visit our Privacy Policy.

How do I roll out The Cinema Society to my organisation?

The Cinema Society is a benefit for closed user groups, and our benefits aren’t available to the general public. If you’re looking to offer The Cinema Society to your employees or members, please get in touch with us. We’d love to hear from you.

Cinema Vouchers & Redemption

Where are my vouchers?

Your vouchers (along with their QR codes) are available on your Previous Orders page as soon as your order has been confirmed, and remain available to access in your account in the future. You will also be emailed your voucher codes and QR codes instantly after purchase to the email address you provided at checkout (please be sure to check your spam folder).

How long are the vouchers valid for?

Most of our vouchers are valid for at least 6 months, so you should plenty of time to use them! However the expiry date will always be clearly displayed upon purchase.

Will the cinema charge a booking fee?

When you book cinema tickets online through the cinema’s website, most cinemas will incur an online booking fee. These fees vary per cinema and are the same booking fees that you would pay if you were just paying as normal.

My voucher code isn’t working on the cinema’s website?

Please refer to the instructions you received for exact details on how to redeem your code online or at the box office, as it’ll vary depending on cinema chain. You can also find helpful “how to” videos on our YouTube channel here.

It’s also worth noting whether there are any exclusions; most vouchers can’t be used on “event” screenings for example.

If it’s still not working, please contact us – we’ll get in touch with the cinema to identify the issue.

My vouchers has passed its validity date, can I swap it?

Unfortunately we cannot swap or extend voucher codes that have passed their expiry dates as these are set by the cinemas and not us.

I’ve bought the wrong voucher!

We realise mistakes can happen, so if you have purchased the incorrect voucher for your chosen cinema, please make a new purchase for the correct voucher type and then contact us with both your old and new order numbers. (We’re unable to offer a refund for wrong vouchers purchased by mistake unless the correct vouchers are purchased). Once you contact us, we’ll then void your first order and begin the refund process. If you’re unsure which vouchers you need, please use the ‘choose a specific cinema’ feature or feel free to contact us and we’ll be happy to advise. Please note we will not be able to process a refund or provide replacement codes if you have redeemed the codes for the wrong screening.

Can I cancel my order and get a refund?

We’re afraid not; as it’s a digital product and immediately available to you, we’re unable to accept returns. Please remember our cinema vouchers have long validity dates, so if you’re no longer plan on going to the cinema in the short-term, you should still be able to use these at a later date.

Voucher Pricing

How much are vouchers?

Our prices are clearly displayed against each voucher type along with the discount when used for a standard 2D screening (with no upgrades or online cinema booking fees). Prices vary between cinema venues as well as by film, format, seating type, time and day. Online ticket prices may differ to those in cinema. A booking fee may be payable for tickets purchased online. An upgrade fee may be payable for non-standard screenings, such as IMAX, 3D etc.

The price on the site isn't the level of discount I was expecting

As you can imagine, cinema ticket prices vary considerably all around the UK and Ireland. To try and keep things simple we’ve agreed standard pricing with the cinemas. That will mean the more expensive cinemas look like amazing value, while compared to cheap day ticket midweek it perhaps won’t look like a huge discount. Our pricing is designed to give the best mid-point so please bear that in mind, and it’s also based on cinemas “peak” prices, for example evenings and weekends, when going to the cinema is most popular. Here at The Cinema Society we do offer a Price Guarantee so that you can buy from us in confidence. If you visit https://cinemasocietyclub.com/price-guarantee, you will see the full Terms & Conditions for a Price Guarantee claim on this page.

How do you price your vouchers?

We want to offer customers a great cinema experience and good value for money. Our prices vary depending on the day and time of the performance, the format of the screening, seating type and from one cinema to another. We regularly review our prices so that we can continue to provide customers with the best savings.

Film Classifications & Age Restrictions

What are the current film classifications?

Film classifications are set by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC), neither us or the cinemas have a say in the rating of a film.

Cinemas will not allow a customer into a film that does not look the correct age for the film certification unless the guest has proof of their age. Please see the cinema’s policies for further information

Film Classifications:
  • (U) Universal It is impossible to predict what might upset any particular child. But a 'U' film should be suitable for audiences aged four years and over. 'U' films should be set within a positive moral framework and should offer reassuring counterbalances to any violence, threat or horror.
  • (PG) Parental Guidance Unaccompanied children of any age may watch. A 'PG' film should not disturb a child aged around eight or older. However, parents are advised to consider whether the content may upset younger or more sensitive children.
  • (12A) 12A No-one younger than 12 may see a '12A' film in a cinema unless accompanied by an adult. Responsibility for allowing under-12s to view lies with the accompanying or supervising adult.
  • (15) 15 No-one younger than 15 may see a '15' film in a cinema.
  • (18) 18 No-one younger than 18 may see an '18' film in a cinema.

Go to www.bbfc.co.uk for further details.

What are the age restrictions of child vouchers?

For majority of cinemas, children up to and including the age of 14 only can use child vouchers. It is clearly stated on each Child voucher available the age limit for a Child.

What form of I.D. do I need to take to the cinema for ‘15’ and ‘18’ rated films?

Cinema staff are legally required to ask for proof that you are old enough to watch an age restricted film if they have any doubt as to your age. In order to prove your age, we require official I.D. that includes a photo and date of birth such as a passport or a driver’s license. PASS accredited proof of age cards are also accepted at most cinemas as proof of age. For more information or to apply for a proof of age I.D card visit: http://www.pass-scheme.org.uk. Always check with your local cinema as to which proof of age document is the best for you to provide them.

Special formats & upgrades

Non-2D screenings

The admit-one voucher codes we sell allow access to any standard 2D films. Most cinemas will allow the use of these vouchers for the upgraded screening types such as IMAX, 4DX, Superscreen, ScreenX, iSense, Dolby, 3D etc. only if you pay an upgrade fee to the cinema upon booking. These upgrade fees vary per cinema. Details of all of these can be seen in the terms and conditions of the voucher.

Event Cinema & Special Screenings

The admit-one voucher codes we sell allow access to standard films only. They are not valid for any non-film performances, private screenings, special events/screenings or Event Cinema performances.

Event Cinema includes (but is not limited to) Documentaries, National Theatre (NT) Live, Royal Opera House (ROH) Live, Metropolitan Opera (MET) Live and Live Concerts such as Taylor Swift or Beyoncé. If unsure, please get in touch with us.

Payments & Security

What methods of Payment do you accept?

We accept most major credit/debit cards, and payments are processed securely by Stripe; one of the world’s largest and most secure payment providers. We also offer ApplePay and GooglePay

Is the site secure?

We take security incredibly seriously, and all payments made through our site are encrypted. We use Stripe to process payments, a leading provider, and we don’t store any card details.

Accessibility

Can I use my CEA card with vouchers?

The CEA card "free" ticket for carers are only available through the cinemas directly if you have a valid CEA card and is dependant on if the cinema will accept the card (most do). You can find information on your chosen cinema’s website under “Accessibility” and through CEA Card directly.

https://www.ceacard.co.uk/

Our vouchers are not always usable with the card as the cinemas often view it as an offer and our vouchers are not valid in conjunction with other offers as per the Terms & Conditions. It would be on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the cinema manager as to whether you would be able to use a CEA card for the "free" ticket alongside one of our vouchers.
